Archon-Albion Genetics Chapter Chronology The King of Blades

Continued from previous page:

The following is a direct transcript from the lecture given by Falcon's teacher at his school on K-9. Italics are used here to indicate that these are his exact words, and his words only.

As you recall from yesterday's lesson we discussed how the Archon trait was inherited from your parents, but I did not explain why many of you cannot use the power of Will, Skill, or Strength. It all comes down to a matter of faith. When a person truly believes they can do something, it becomes possible to do a myriad of things. Imagine, if you will, you are standing at the center of a basketball court and I ask you to take 100 shots at the basket. You may get lucky and make 1 or 2 baskets out of a hundred shots. Next I give you a desiccated foot of a rabbit and tell you it is a magic amulet that magnifies your shooting ability. On your next 100 shots you miraculously happen to make 3 or 4 baskets. One might think that the lucky rabbits foot caused you to increase your accuracy, but most of you will realize that any time you perform a task 100 times you naturally become more proficient at it. Next I tell you to take 100 shots and hit the wall behind the backstop. There probably would be very few shots that do not hit that target. Most people will believe that merely hitting a wall is much easier than making a basket and I have little doubt that you would be hitting the wall with nearly every shot.

Another example comes from the story of Dumbo the Elephant. When the little mouse, I believe his name was Timothy, gave Dumbo the crow's feather he told him it was magical and he could fly when he held the feather. We all remember what happened when Dumbo lost the feather. He believed that it was the feather that enabled him to fly and it was only when the mouse admitted his falsehood that Dumbo could fly. He needed merely to believe he could fly to do it.

Let's try a little experiment. How many of you believe you can roll your tongue? A show of hands please. Fine, now let's all try to roll our tongues. This ability is carried on the X chromosome, just like the Archon trait. About 62.5% of you can do this. Of course you had little doubt of its possibility and once you tried most of you with this trait were successful. This is exactly my point, it all comes down to a matter of faith.

...(sound of bell)... Now tonight I would like you all to write me a list of ten things you believe you can do and ten things you believe you cannot. Class dismissed.
